Why do I support inclusive civic engagement?
I started my career in international development to support access to decision-making. At CCD, I worked with government ministers and civil society advocates to create democracy education action plans, preparing young people to be active citizens in governance. At IFES, I focused on ensuring that persons with marginalized identities had equal access to political participation.
My interest in inclusive engagement is both professional and personal. I am mission-driven, using my technical expertise to create enabling environments for participation. When barriers are eliminated, we can benefit from the lived experiences, traditional knowledge, and innovations of all peoples. My goal is to create the conditions necessary for engagement, not to tell people what they should do.
